Make a Plan
MAKE A PLAN
For the longest time, I really disliked the word “goal”, it made me feel like a failure. I would set goals and come the end of the year none of them would materialize. It was only very recently that something clicked for me and I found a system that worked. After a lot of research into the intricacies of goals I understand the steps a lot better.
There are hundreds of thousands of books, articles, podcasts, etc about goals, but if none of them speak to you, it will be an uphill battle. Setting goals should be exciting and a bit scary and they should be things you really, really want in your life. Think about that one, most of us think we want things, but only to find out that actually it’s your husband that wants to take that trip or your best friend who wants to skydive. I used to think I was so boring because I didn’t want to skydive or rock climb or ski down a mountain like a bat out of hell. I do like my bones intact! So if you are more the type to get your thrills from a good book, go for it girl!
Ladies, we are here to find out what is possible for your life and in order to do that you have to have a plan. A good one! One that works for you and that you will stick to. I will share with you what works for me and perhaps it will work for you or at least some parts that you can use, that speak to you.
Do a desire catalogue
Take out your journal or piece of paper and write down your every desire.
What you want to do….what you want to have….who you want to be.
Every thing!
Don’t confuse yourself and say you don’t know. Ask yourself “If I did know what would I want?” This is a much better question and gets your brain coming up with good answers.
Pick one
Out of all the items you have in your catalogue, which one jumps at you?
Pick that one and stick to it.
Relax ladies, there is no wrong choice here. These are all things you desire. They are on your list. And next month you can choose another one from your list.
The idea is to pick one you can do in 30 days to give yourself the momentum.
There will be goals on your list that will take much longer, and once you have evidence that you can do a 30 day goal, it will be a lot easier to tackle a longer goal.
Do a task list
Write down all the tasks you think you will need to do in order to make this desire a reality.
Depending on your time, make most of these steps you can do in an hour.
Don’t overwhelm yourself by placing a project instead of a task on your list. Break down your project into doable steps.
Put it in your calendar
Pick 30 days and schedule your tasks over the 30 days.
Schedule everything, work, exercise, picking the kids up from school. This way you will have a clear idea of what your day looks like.
You know what your days look like, remember that this is your desire and it is worth it to you to make time for.
Also, Ladies, give yourself some breathing room to do fun things.
Write down your goal every day
Every morning, write down what your goal is and the tasks you have for that day.
It is just an extra reminder what you are working on and to work through your thoughts regarding your goal.
You may find you are feeling resistance, doubt or even excitement. Stay with these feelings and do your tasks regardless.
Now would also be a good moment to write what you are grateful for….it may just be for that steaming cup of coffee you have in hand while writing.
Grateful thoughts always get you in a receptive mood and looking forward to your day.
Show up
This is one of the most important steps. If it’s on your calendar, do it!!!
Even if you are tired, even if you are having doubt, even if you are not in the mood.
I cannot stress enough how good you will feel after the 30 days, knowing you showed up for yourself. Remember you have to be a different person to get different results.
Be accountable
How do you know that you have achieved your goal?
Write down what success looks like at the end of each week.
Did you do what you set out to do that week?
Make merry!
After the 30 days, celebrate.
Celebrate how well you did, celebrate that you made a plan and stuck to it.
Celebrate that you achieved your goal.
Celebrate that you showed up for yourself.
Celebrate that you are the kind of woman who does what she says.
You will find more detailed information on goals in the “Live Life Inspired” journal under January – Create your Goals.
Ladies, I hope this helped and got you excited enough to start doing what your heart desires. Let me know in the comment section what plans you have made, I would love to know what excites you and who you are becoming….
