Let’s get serious about your health

How is your health?  Is it 100%?  If not, we have some work to do.  Mine definitely is not up to scratch and while it is much better than it was, I have a long way to go.

I started the Declutter Your Life Workshop last night and one of the reasons for your health not being up to scratch, is clutter.  When your life is a bit of a mess, you let the ball drop on a lot of things and one of those is your health.  You don’t plan your workouts, you don’t plan your meals or even shopping for healthy foods.

So while most areas in my life are fairly organized, there are some areas that could do with some work.  These areas have taken up a lot of my time and energy and I have let my workouts and healthy meal-making have taken a backseat.

Let’s decide right now, how you want your health to be and what does that look like.  If you got to the end of the year, how would you know if you have achieved your health goals?  It could look like walking 2km every day, having salad at least 3 times a week, going to bed at 10pm every night, taking your meds and vitamins every day.  These are all actions you can commit to, which if you follow through you would definitely feel the difference in your health.  What does it look like for you?

When you don’t feel good, everything in your life suffers

You don’t have the energy to go after your goals, you don’t feel like dressing up and looking your best, you don’t show up as your best self and you feel terrible.  It is so important, the most important decision you can make, to make your health a priority.

Work out what your health protocol is going to look like, taking the above tips in to consideration and decide what you are going to do for the next month.  Then you diarise it, put reminders on your phone, do whatever you need to make your health a priority.

Please be kind to yourself.  Some of you are more unwell than you think and it may take you longer to feel better.  Have compassion for yourself and give yourself the time to heal.  Your body wants to heal, it is built to heal, but you have to give yourself the space, meds, vitamins and time to go through the healing process.

Let’s get serious about your health

This is a good time to get quiet and listen to your body.  We are so busy doing, it is time to just be.  Your body will tell you what is going on.  Take a few moments when you wake up in the morning to check in with yourself.  How are you feeling?  Not just physically, but emotionally as well.  Some days you are going to have a lot more energy and other days not.  If you are not feeling well, you are more likely to have less energy, but notice the degrees of your energy levels each day.  If you need to take it easy, do so.  Perhaps you need to put some important decisions off for a day.

Sugar and Coffee

As difficult as this advice is, lay off the sugar and the coffee.  These are my Achilles heel.  You may think that it is giving your more energy or keeping you going, it is not.  The effect is short lived and has way more detrimental effects on your health in the long term.  Like anything else really yummy you have to give up, it will be difficult for a week until your body gets used to not having sugar and coffee and go through the detox.  After that you will feel the benefit of cutting out these two things.

While you are making your health a priority keep in mind what you are working towards.  You are working towards feeling great, having a ton of energy, a more positive emotional state generally as well as a dissipation or lightening of the various symptoms you are having.  For me, to be able to breath well, having strong lungs and less or no coughing would be the ideal and that will be what I am working towards.

This is your one life, how can you focus on your health so that you can make the most of it?

Till next week.
