How to deal with obstacles

How to deal with obstacles

We all have them and sometimes it feels like we have the lion’s share of them.  This is life, we get tested all along our journey of life.  Often we get thrown obstacles constantly so that we can grow quickly.  If you put yourself out there, you are going to get constant obstacles, which is as it should be.

Obstacles

Instead of viewing obstacles as negative, perhaps see them as puzzles or challenges (whichever has a positive connotation for you) and you are more likely to want to solve them or find smart solutions.  Currently I and my loved ones have had a challenging situation, which we initially thought would be quite quickly solved.  However, we are 3 months down the line and on the surface no further along than when we started.

Throw our hands in the air

We have plugged along, got professionals involved and still hoping for a good outcome.  Did we just throw our hands in the air and said well nothing to be done, we will just wait it out? No!  We have followed every possible avenue open to us.  We have done, and still are, doing what we can to get this resolved.  Do we wonder if we will ever get a positive result?  Absolutely, we waiver and get discouraged, lose patience, yet we still persist.

While the ideal outcome still evades us, there is still so much to be thankful for.  It is so important to remind ourselves that while you are struggling with one obstacle or another, there are other things in your life that are well and truly going well.  If you actually look up from your struggle and take note of those things, you can be so grateful.  Simple things, like a sunset, or being able to hug a loved one, seeing a beautiful flower in the garden.

Solve your puzzle

There is also something to be said for going all out and trying to solve your puzzle, having the tenacity to persist even if you don’t get the outcome you have been yearning for.  Knowing you did everything in your power to get what you wanted and the Universe saying, “nope not this time darling”.  As we know, in life, we don’t always get what we want and often for good reason.  Those reasons may not be apparent right away, but often they do show themselves.

Once those reasons are clear to you, you can with absolute certainty say you tried your best and the reason you don’t have what you want is because you have been shown another way, or shown something else that would be much suited to where you are heading in the long run.

What do I need to learn here?

Perhaps you are not sure of the reason and life has lead you down many obstacle laden paths.  A question to ask is what do I need to learn here or perhaps are these just obstacles of my own making?  Yes we do tend to do this a lot too.  We can’t go or do something because we think our parents/partner..fill in the blank…would not like it.  Perhaps if you presented them with what you want to do, they may tell you to go for it.  You have no idea what is going on in someone else’s mind, you only think you do.  The only way to find out is to talk to that person and if they really do not agree with what you want to do, you need to decide if you what you are going to do with that answer and like your reason.

Do not go around blaming other people for not doing the things you want to do.  If they say no and you decide not to go ahead, then be happy with that reason, this is then your choice, not theirs.  If you go ahead against their wishes, again it is your choice and like your reason.

What obstacles are you creating for yourself that are completely unnecessary?  Which obstacles could you do away with today if you made some good decisions?  One thing for sure, is that overcoming and dealing with obstacles definitely make you stronger, more resolute and not afraid to face challenges.
