Find the Nugget of Gold
FIND THE NUGGET OF GOLD
Happy 2021 ladies! May this year be amazing for you. Let’s make this the best year ever.
It is fairly easy to have a great year when nothing goes “wrong”, there are no hospital trips, or family drama’s or losing your job or money, or you don’t get burgled or having to deal with a worldwide crisis. You could say nothing bad happened, that it’s pretty good and you would have the odd year that looked like that. But life does happen and all of us go through upheavals at one point or another.
I want to challenge you to try and find the gold nugget in all of these events. They are for sure there, they may be buried deep if you are not used to looking for them, but they are there. Your brain will fight you and say there is no way this event has any kind of good in there, but if you ask the question often enough, you will find an answer, even several gold nuggets.
Good or bad
How do you know something was supposed to happen, it happened! Good or bad, it just is. Now from there you can go through and carefully think about what happened, not in a “it should have been different” or “it shouldn’t have happened that way” way. It does not serve you to think that you should have done something different after the fact. In a perfect world you could go back in time and fix the mistake or reacted differently, but in a perfect world you would never have made the mistake in the first place.
By all means, look what happened and decide what you would do differently if the same scenario came up again and store that information for future use, but do not unpack and live in the past. We are meant to learn and move forward. This is life, we are here to experience all of it.
Most importantly though, look for those gold nuggets. Every negative has a positive, and visa versa. A great example is the yin/yang sign, the black is seen as “bad”, the white as “good”, but there is a white spot in the black signifying that there is good in the bad and alternatively there is a black spot in the white signifying there is bad in the good. Both are part of the same system, they complement and work together in order to create harmony in life.
For example, let’s take lockdown, a very unusual circumstance in comparison with life as we knew it. Overall, not good for the economy, but it achieves what it has meant to achieve, slowing down the spread of the virus. Good and bad. Staying at home, perhaps eating too much – not so good. Staying at home, spending quality time with your family – great. You get the idea here.
Robbed
Recently my home got broken into and they stole a bunch of stuff. While it was a horrible experience and a violation of privacy, I chose to find my nuggets of gold in there. It could have been worse. We could have been home. They could have trashed my place. They could have broken things. They could have taken sentimental items. It was also a reminder to pay attention, could I have better security and what is really important to me. So while this was a hugely unpleasant experience, I chose better feeling thoughts instead of freaking out and making it mean more than it was.
This may take a bit of practice, because your brain will automatically go to the worse case scenario, the brain is there to protect you so that’s what it will do. And in the above case, my brain probably had every right to freak out, because it was a potentially dangerous situation, but we were not home and perfectly safe and it really did not serve me to think otherwise. Good and bad.
Conclusion
It is a choice to think in this way, you could chose to think that it is all bad, but then you are missing out on the opportunity to find the good and to highlight it. Overthinking and overanalysing something is also not the way to go, make a choice to think about the positive, it may not come easily, but the more you do it, the better you will get at it. So take the opportunity to look for your gold nuggets when your life hits a wobbly and if you can’t find one, send me a message and we will find it together.
Have a great day ladies.
A💛
