Feed Your Soul
FEED YOUR SOUL
In the hustle and bustle of today’s world, we tend to forget that we have a soul, never mind looking after it and nurturing it. We are so busy tending to our families, working, and putting out fires that come the end of the day, we are tired, listless and almost depressed.
But nourishing your soul a little every day will do wonders for your mood and happiness.
Take the time to do some of these suggestions every day.
- Meditate – There have been so many articles written about the benefits of meditation and they would be right. Is meditation easy? No way. Worth it? Absolutely. Sitting still and listening to your inner voice.
Our brains are so busy thinking, planning, scheming that we don’t give that little voice a chance. It knows what is best for you, it is your own internal guidance system.
So make time each day to meditate even if you start with 5 minutes and work your way up. You will start to feel peace in this hectic world.
- Be mindful – Take a few deep breaths and be mindful of what you are doing, be deliberate. Do not multi-task. It scatters your energy and you end up doing a lot of tasks badly. Concentrate on one thing and do it well.
Have you ever driven to work and when you got there you have no idea how you did? That, my friends, is living on autopilot. Yes our mind is amazing in that it could get you to work in one piece, but do you really want to go through your life “unconscious”?
- Establish rituals – Your cup of coffee in the morning….bathing…spreading your toast.
Your whole day consists of moments, ordinary ones, make them to your liking and you will end up with years’ worth of great days.
Exciting days are usually few and far between so create small delicious rituals in your everyday life.
- Music – There is a song for every mood, feeling or emotion. Use music to lift you up when you are feeling blue, use it to relax or to get you psyched for that important meeting
Music stirs the soul.
- Exercise – Get your body moving, even if you are only walking as slow as a snail, your body was made to move.
Celebrate it, it is the most amazing piece of machinery. It houses your soul and you have to live with it for the rest of your life.
Think of all those feel good endorphins rushing around your body.
- Nature – This one in particular is wonderful soul food. Walking in nature, the sound of bird song, the breeze blowing through the trees, the wonderful smell of flowers, the sight of butterflies.
You feel restored from nature.
- Bless your meals – Try to eat as organically as possible, it not only nourishes you but it also strengthens your mind, body and soul.
Bless the food you eat, the good energy will be absorbed by your body.
- Gratitude – Be grateful for every little thing in your life and sometimes you will be and other times you will be hard pressed to find anything to be grateful for.
We all have so many blessings in our lives which we often don’t even see.
Pay attention to them and in turn you will be blessed.
- Pamper yourself – It can be as extravagant as a spa day or taking a lovely bath. Love yourself.
This is not conceit or a luxury. You are creating love for yourself, you are receiving love by pampering.
A lot of women find this very difficult to do as we tend to be the nurturers to others, but we need to do it for ourselves too.
Don’t you dare feel guilty….you deserve it!
- Laugh – We don’t laugh nearly enough, it’s crazy. Who doesn’t like to laugh? Yet we don’t make it a priority.
Laughter gets rid of so many ills and bad vibes. It lightens your mood and puts a sparkle in your eye.
Just watch kids, they delight in everything around them. Look around you with new eyes and find the fun in life again.
- Sleep – Get enough rest. No one can function properly on a little sleep. You deprive yourself by not sleeping.
Your body and mind heal when you sleep, your soul resets.
Put away the electronics (yes put off the TV too) at least 30 minutes before you go to bed, read a book instead.
- Read – Whether you are into fiction, fantasy, business or self help, all of it is good.
It relaxes you, it gets your imagination and creativity going.
I love reading!
Ladies, thank you so much for joining me today….let me know what feeds your soul.
Till next time…
