Are you resisting or lazy?
Ok so you’ve got your goals and you are working them and getting results and then you lose motivation and everything after that is just a hassle or you just can’t seem to get any more results.
What now?
We all have an invisible ceiling, things that we think we can accomplish, things we can do and we can work our way right up to that point and then we can’t seem to go any further.
Break through the ceiling
This is all we can do with what we have currently. In order to break through the ceiling you have to reinvent yourself to become the person who can achieve these bigger and better goals. You have to think differently, be different, do different things and it’s uncomfortable. You are going to have to do and be someone you have never been before.
This is where the resistance comes in. We fight for what we know and then complain that we are not growing, we want to keep doing the same things because they have worked for us in the past, to get us past the ceiling.
Big Goals
We have big goals, bigger than we even thought possible and we get glimpses of what is possible for us by watching others do it or being in that creative, fearless space. And we can do it, it requires us to grow and learn and step outside of our comfort zone in order to get to those goals.
Some people fight what is, they don’t want to step into their future selves because it is scary and they think they don’t know how. This is a normal reaction, we just want to go back into our caves and hide. Does this serve us and our goals, no! If we want to achieve our goals badly enough, we will venture out of our caves and slay. And yes, we won’t always know the how, but we will figure it out along the way. If you did know how you would already have achieved your goal.
Think in this manner
Some hit the ceiling and just say it’s too much work, I’m tired of fighting and give up or I don’t know what to do next. Ask yourself the questions: Am I hiding? Am I being lazy? How is it serving me to think in this manner?
What does lazy look like? It looks like listening to your fear, it looks like rather sitting on the couch and watching Netflix, it feels small and inhibiting. It does not feel good. By all means rest, if you need to, you will know if it is just rest or if you are being lazy. Resting means you feel good, you have worked hard and you have decided you are going to rest. You have decided ahead of time what that rest looks like and for how long. If your “rest” does not look like this, you could be indulging in being lazy.

Resistance
When you hit that ceiling and you feel the resistance, go into it. Find out what the resistance is all about. It could just be as simple as not knowing the next step or it could be that you need to grow. If you explore it a bit you will find out which it is and you can address it. You are going to be uncomfortable either way. Uncomfortable growing or uncomfortable staying where you are. Which would you rather do? How important are your dreams to you? Now may also be a time to review your WHY. Is it big enough to get you over that resistance?
Do not give up because you have hit a bit of resistance. Review, regroup and perhaps try something else. Keep your dream front and centre, there are so many other paths to get to your dream, it does not have to look like any one thing. Think outside the box, how else could you go about achieving your dream?
Being lazy means you are unwilling to work or expend energy. Your primitive brain is quite adapt at trying to get you to expend less energy, it keeps you safe and alive. But we are not living in the dark ages and we do not have to worry about dying, all we are up against are our emotions, fear of failing, fear of looking stupid. Not quite the same as dying, no?
